ID HOTELIER - Yogyakarta, February 4th 2023 - After carrying out a series of ASEAN Tourism Forum activities at the Ministerial level on Saturday (4/2/2023), the delegates were offered Indonesian culinary dishes for their lunch.

In her remarks at the CNN Ministerial Meeting at the Marriot Hotel Yogyakarta on Saturday (4/2/2023), the Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Deputy Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, expressed her please for the presence of the Tourism Ministers from ASEAN member countries to Indonesia for attending the 2023 ASEAN Tourism Forum.

“I hope our cooperation will be even closer, not only how we can recover the tourism sector but also open up new tourism potential that is able to benefits the community and sustainable tourism development,” according to Angela.

During the CNN Ministerial Luncheon held by CNN, two main dishes were served, namely rendang and roasted duck, the Indonesian culinary pride due to their taste in spices. This typical food from West Sumatra has the main ingredient of beef mixed with spices, such as garlic, shallots, galangal, lemongrass, and chili.

The cooking process also takes time as it is cooked at low temperatures. Moreover, rendang cooked using firewood will produce a very authentic taste. No wonder this Minang specialty is included in CNN's list of the 50 best foods in the world for 2021.

The roasted duck itself is usually served to welcome guests of honor. It always appears in the dishes during the moment of Chinese New Year because it represents happiness and blessing during the year. Angela said that the media landscape had undergone many changes. It is a matter of how we can utilize and maximize the media as a platform to introduce the best culinary to the world.

“We have a diverse culture, beautiful nature, and history. These are what we have in common. And as we were reminded last night at Prambanan Temple, that ASEAN is a destination for every dream. The most important thing is how we can package this potential into interesting content. Content is king. It is what we need to have in the ASEAN region,” she explained.

Also attending the CNN Ministerial Meeting were the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno; a number of ASEAN member countries’ Ministers; and partner countries, such as ASEAN Plus Three, Indi, Russia, ASEAN NTOs, and member of CNN.
