Employment of Relatives

POLICY 

It is a Policy of Kalihara Hotels Group that no immediate relatives, including the spouse, are permitted to work in the same department or departments where either party can exercise control over the activities of other relative concerned.



PURPOSE 

The purpose of this policy is to avoid any conflict of interests between the relatives within the work place, also to reduce the affect to the operation in the case of family matters requiring both parties to be presence.


Employment of immediate relatives (including parents, spouses, children, brothers and sisters) in the hotel is not allowed as there conflict of interest. 



PROCEDURE

  1. All job applicants are asked on the Employment Application Form if any relatives are currently employed by the hotel.  The Human Resources Department will verify the specific relationship of the applicant to any current employees.

  2. When the immediate relatives apply for a job, the applicant should write down the names as well as the detailed relationships with all relatives who is/are working in this hotel clearly to avoid improper arrangement made for the work.  If the applicant fails to do so deliberately, it will result in contract termination. 

  3. “Relatives of staff” are defined as any members of the family having the same Mother or Gather though direct blood line or marriage, ie. Brother, sister, son, daughter.

  4. “Couples” as defined by a man and woman legally married who work within the same department, ie. Husband and wife.

  5. Any violation of this Policy and Procedure or failure to inform the Human Resources Department of any change of family status (marriage) may result in the immediate termination.
