ID HOTELIER - Yogyakarta, 3 February 2023 – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and
Creative Economy Agency is having joint promotion with Qatar Airways as an effort to develop Indonesia tourism destination promotion so to increase the number of international tourists visit to Indonesia.
This collaboration was marked by the signing of MoU between the Deputy for Marketing Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Ni Made Ayu Marthini with Vice President Sales Qatar Airways, Jared Lee at JW Marriott Hotel Yogyakarta, coinciding with the international event “Asean Tourism Forum”, Friday (3/2/2023).
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uni after the joint promotion signing event, stated that the collaboration is as the follow up from the previous meetings included in the Minister’s working visit to Qatar a while back. He hopes the cooperation will run in the long term and could be the opening door to strategic cooperation with other related parties, so that they can hand-in-hand promote tourism and creative economy in Indonesia.
“This cooperation is part of joint promotion, including other programs such as collaborative marketing, digital advertising, and other cooperation which at the end to increase the number of international tourists visit to Indonesia,” said Sandiaga.
Menparekraf Sandiaga said, Qatar Airways as one of the biggest international airlines in the world has a central role in the distribution of tourists. Doha is a very busy hub that connects many cities around the world.
Therefore, he hopes that the cooperation can increase the number of direct flight as well as seat capacity. These two things are the most important factors in increasing the number of international tourists visit which is targeted to reach 7.4 million tourists this year.
“Doha is a very busy hub for flight from Europe, thus we can increase the number of international tourists visit from Europe to Indonesia’s destinations through Doha hub. Also, India, because India is one of the target markets that we are currently developing as well as other initiatives in promoting national destinations,” said Sandiaga.
Through this cooperation with Qatar Airways, it is expected to increase their number of direct flights from Jakarta and Bali, as well as other destinations.
“This is the cooperation that we want to further enhance, tighten more for the revival and acceleration of the recovery of the tourism sector," said Sandiaga. Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said this collaboration was a strategic step for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to promote the "Wonderful Indonesia" brand worldwide so that it could improve the image of Indonesia's tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Currently the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is intensively collaborating with various national and international airlines to expedite and expand connectivity to main destinations in an effort to achieve the national target of 7.4 million foreign tourists and 1.4 billion movements of domestic tourists," said Made.
Also attending the occasion was the Deputy for Strategic Policy for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Nia Niscaya.
