Opening the agenda was the 57th ASEAN NTO’s Meeting, which discussed post-pandemic tourism development strategic plans in ASEAN and other initiatives.

The Permanent Secretary of the MOTCE, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, when opening the 57th ASEAN NTO’s Meeting at the Yogyakarta Marriot Hotel on Thursday (2/2/2023), said that one of the efforts to recover post-pandemic tourism to become stronger and more sustainable is to consistently fight for highly competitive tourism professionals so that they can be absorbed not only in the ASEAN market but also globally.

In the ASEAN region itself, the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) has been designed to facilitate the movement of tourism professional workers between ASEAN members.

“Soon, we will see that this MRA-TP can facilitate the movement of tourism professionals. According to her, the existence of quality tourism human resources will affect tourists’ comfort when visiting tourist destinations. Especially after the pandemic, tourist movement has started to increase.

The latest World Tourism Barometer data released by UNWTO on January 2023 shows that there were around 34.4 million tourist arrivals in the Southeast Asia region. This number has increased compared to 2021, which was only about 2.9 million.
