In Room Safe Decoding and Force Open

Objective :

Ensure the security to force open for the in-room safe



Procedure :

  1. TESA provides a decoder which can open any in-room guest safe and to print out transactions detail of any particular safe or user who use the decoder. The decoder is protected by a series of passwords assigned to several designated person in charge, that means only the person has the password can use the decoder to open the safe. 

  2. The decoder will be kept in the safe of the Director of Rooms; the combination of the safe must be divided into halves and kept separated by the Director of Rooms and the Front Office Manager. This must be properly recorded on both the AM logbook and the Security logbook when taking the decoder out of the safe for opening or printing the transactions of any in-room safe. A security staff must present to witness the opening or reading the information of the in-room safe.


    Password levels of the decoder is divided into three levels:


    Level one – The only user in this level will be the Director of Finance & Business Support. This level of user can open the safe, print reports, program new safe number, set / delete users and passwords for the level 2 users. 


    Level two – The users in this level will be FOM, AFOM and AM. This level of users can also open the safe, print reports program new safe number, set / delete users and passwords for the level 3 users.


    Level three – In this level, the users can only print reports and update the time only. For administration purpose, this level of users will not be created.


  3. If the in-room safe cannot be opened even with the decoder, the Engineering staff must be requested to drill open the safe with the witness of the AM and Security and the present of the guest. If it is the guest’s fault, the guest must be informed of the cost for replacing the door lock before drilling. The Director of Rooms must have a proper form (Authorization to Drill) for all parties concerned to sign. The case must be recorded in the AM logbook and the Security logbook.
