“WHILE YOU ARE PASSING” MAINTENANCE REQUEST

Purpose:
It is the Engineering Departments responsibility to provide a quality support service to both our internal and external customers (guest and staff) and to constantly achieve the highest standard of maintenance throughout the Hotel.

However during the course of a normal working day, numerous colleagues will ask "while you are passing" can you repair. This type of maintenance request, although well intended, can be very disruptive to the departments operation and is impossible to monitor and analysis any trends or patterns.
Procedure:
When confronted with this situation,
Assess the defect you have been informed about.
There several aspects to consider when carrying out the assessment,
Time it will take to rectify the defect.
What will be the consequences to the operation if the defect is left?
What will be the disruption to the operation if you rectify the defects straight away?
Do I have the materials required to rectify the defect with me.
If the defect will take less than an estimated 10 minutes to rectify and no materials are required, then the repairs must be carried out, and the originator is to complete a Maintenance Request Form immediately.
When the defect is repaired within the 10-minute time frame and the originator has completed a maintenance request form, then the engineer is to follow the maintenance request procedure.
All maintenance requests, no matter how small defect,must be accompanied with a correctly filled out Maintenance Request Form.
If the defect will take longer than an estimated 10 minutes or requires additional material, then the originator must follow the maintenance request procedure.
