DUSTING A GUESTROOM

HOW/ STANDARDS

  • Use a damp soft cloth for dusting and dust from the highest point to the lowest point within the guestroom.

  • Start at the entrance of the guestroom and move in one direction around the room to ensure nothing is overlooked that requires dusting.

  • Clean and dust all; door frames, door closer, hinges, front/back parts of doors, pictures,

ledges, lamps, television, tables, chairs and legs and other furniture and fittings, headboard, side tables, window sill, skirting boards, etc. within the room.

  • This also includes the wardrobe to ensure dusting is carried out on: doors, upper shelf, hanger rails, hangers, in-room safe, drawers, rims and tracks and flooring.

  • Check all wall and air vents by using a long duster or vacuum cleaner with a small soft brush on the end where possible or practical to remove any dust particles, whilst ensuring not to damage any of these areas at the same time.

  • For all furniture, lamps and electrical equipment it is advisable to only use light damp cloth for cleaning and a dry cloth for polishing and not to use any chemicals on these areas to eliminate the possibility of damage to any items.

  • When cleaning light bulbs within any lamps or fittings within the guestroom ensure the light or lamp is switched off before cleaning.  As a matter of precaution and safety only use a dry cloth to remove the dust from the light bulb, as it will more than likely still be warm if they are being used.  Once cleaning or dusting is completed always check to ensure the lamp light is still operational.
