HOW TO POLISH A FLOOR

Guest Expectation : Like all other areas, I expect floors to be clean and if they are marble, to be polished.  It assists in displaying a high image of the hotel.

STEPS	HOW/ STANDARDS	TRAINING QUESTIONS
Preparation	Collect all the equipment, cleaning tools and chemical required.	Why do I need to prepare equipment before starting?
Stripping	Cordon off area, remove as much of the furniture as possible. Put stripper in a pail of water. Spread the solution generously over the area leaves it for 5 minutes. Scrub the floor with the scrubbing machine using a black pad. Overlap the strokes to ensure area is completely covered.	Why do I need to close the area in which I am working? Why do I need to put the stripper in a pail of water? Can I pick up solution as well with a dry vacuum cleaner only?
	Pick up solution with wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Rinse floor with water and pick up with wet-and-dry Vacuum cleaner again.
Polishing	Mop floor surface with a clean mop, check surface to ensure there is no residue left. Leave the floor to dry completely before polishing. Start from the far end corner of area to polish. Dip the end of a mop into the pail of solution and shake the mop against side of the pail to remove excess Solution. Apply polish in a thin coat, section by section, from left to right. Use even, over-lapping strokes. Allow coat to dry and repeat process. Apply 3 to 5 coats depending on the traffic. Prepare scrubbing machine with silver pad. STOP USING THE MACHINE IF ANY SMELL OR BURN ACCURES!	Why do I need a dry mop for polishing? Do I always need to wait before polishing? Why is it important to keep the same system? Why do I need to have a silver pad?
Crystallization	Spray solution on floor, small section at a time. Run machine over area until a shine appears and move on to another area. When job is completed, dust mops the floor.	Why do I need additional solution? Do I need to polish until the floor shines? Is it really necessary to dust the floor?
Store	Wash, rinse and dry equipment, tools and   Solution container Place them neatly in the allotted places	Why is it important to prepare for storage properly, if I use the equipment again?
Report defects	To report immediately of any maintenance problem is found while cleaning.	Why do I have to report immediately?

Now ask the trainee to practice the task from start to end to test competency.
