HOW TO POLISH WOODEN FURNITURE AND WOODEN FLOORS

Guest Expectation: I expect hotels to polish their wooden furniture. I cannot understand hotels, who have unpolished wooden floors as it makes the hotel look dull and lifeless.

STEPS	HOW/ STANDARDS	TRAINING QUESTIONS
Preparation	Prepare all cleaning tools and cleaning material required. Remove items from the surface to be polished. Wooden surfaces should be polished periodically to maintain a glossy appearance and also to protect the surface. Put “Work in progress sign” in place.	Why do I need to have cleaning material available? Is a sign necessary even if I am just polishing arm chairs?
Cleaning	Spray furniture wax onto a folded piece of cleaning cloth. Wipe the surface with the cloth in circular movements until it shines.	Why do I need to fold the cloth? What wax do I need to spray?
Finish cleaning	Replace items in the same position as before. Housekeeper will determine the schedule for periodical polishing of wooden structures and furniture.	Why do I need to replace moved items? Why can I not polish whenever I feel?
Storage	Return chemical containers to the store and place neatly on shelf.	Where do I need to store the chemicals?
Report defects	Report furniture defects immediately if found while cleaning.	Why do I have to report immediately?
