SHOW ROOM

HOW/ STANDARDS

  • The housekeeping coordinator will be advised, as to which room numbers will be the show rooms for the day or the week, subject to occupancy levels, as advised by the reservations or the front desk.

Once the housekeeping supervisor has been informed of the show rooms they must proceed to the rooms and check that they are suitable to be used as show rooms for items and areas such as:

  1. Check for any visible maintenance problems which may result in the room not being suitable.

  2. Check the external windows are clean.

  3. Check carpet for any stains

  4. Check furniture for any damage, stains, etc.

  • If the required areas or works can be addressed for cleaning, maintenance and/or furniture changes as to when the rooms are required then proceed to have the rooms cleaned.  If this is not possible then the rooms will be required to be changed that are more of a higher standard.  Ensure a maintenance request for any works required to be auctioned if the rooms are also changed is completed as per the standard operating procedure for “Maintenance requests”.

  • Once the rooms have been confirmed they are then required to be cleaned as per the standard operating procedures for “Servicing a guestroom – checkout”.  They must also be placed on an out-of-service status at all times, whilst they are used as a show room.

  • If there are certain requests from the sales and marketing department for the addition of items or props (e.g. flowers, oil burner, etc.) for the setup of the room then these should be placed accordingly in the respective areas of the guestroom as requested.  Contact the relevant departments, such as Food & Beverage or any external suppliers for assistance so items can be prepared or ordered as necessary.  It is recommended the sales and marketing department check the room prior to the room inspection to ensure all meets their satisfaction.

  • When having the room set up as a show room items or props to use within the room could be as follows subject to the hotel standards::

  1. Turn TV onto classical music channel.

  2. Hang one bathrobe in the bathroom on the hook

  3. Place a blank key card in the light switch to turn on all lights and air conditioning.

  4. Open all curtains both sheer and heavy on windows which provide a view (preferably a view of the city or ocean)

  5. Rooms should be checked and make sure they are in excellent condition as well as with requested setup.

  6. Make sure all rooms have been hold out-of-service.

  7. Keys should be ready before the colleagues/clients arrived.

  • The allocated guestrooms which have been cleaned and prepared must be checked and touched up after each time the room has had a viewing or site inspection, to ensure the cleanliness is maintained and to check for any items that may have been moved or touched so they can be placed back in their original position.  They should also be refreshed on a daily basis to ensure they are well presented.
