HOW TO CLEAN KETTLES AND ICE BUCKETS

Guest Expectation:

I expect the kettle to be clean, as I prepare my coffee and tea in this equipment.  I expect Ice Buckets to retain their “new” look.

STEPS	HOW/ STANDARDS	TRAINING QUESTIONS
Switch off the kettle and Empty the Kettle	Ensure the kettle is switched off and unplugged. Then Empty the kettle	Why do I need to switch off     the kettle and unplug? Why do I need to empty the Kettle?
Cleaning the Kettle	Refill the kettle with some fresh water.  Add special cleaner or vinegar to ensure, lime stone or other marks are removed. Use a toothbrush and brush the element if necessary. Rinse the kettle thoroughly with hot water. Dry the kettle with a clean glass cloth. Never use aggressive chemicals to clean the surface or the interior as it will damage the kettle. Never immerse the kettle in water when cleaning.	Why do I need to refill the Kettle with fresh water? Does Vinegar clean the lime stone? Where do I get a toothbrush from? Is it OK to scrub the heating element? Why do need rinse the Kettle thoroughly? Why can I not use aggressive chemicals?
Cleaning Ice Buckets	Empty ice bucket of any water. Clean the bucket and lid with a general purpose cleaner and a clean cloth. Pay attention to the rubber rim of the bucket as mould may develop there. Rinse the ice bucket and lid with hot water	Why do I need to clean the ice bucket?
