HOW TO SHAMPOO WITH FOAM

Guest Expectation: I expect cushions, upholstery and materials in public areas to be cleaned to a high standard, particularly those in high traffic areas like lobby bar areas.

STEPS	HOW/ STANDARDS	TRAINING QUESTIONS
Preparation	Prepare all cleaning tools and cleaning material.  Remove items if necessary.  Prepare the scrubbing machine, shampoo brush and shampoo tank. Dilute carpet shampoo with warm water. Put “Work in progress sign” in place.	Why do I need to have cleaning material available? What items consist of a scrubbing machine? Why do I need to put a sign?
Cleaning	Vacuum the area to be shampooed. Start shampooing the carpet from the far end of the room, section by section. Run the machine sideways; pull the release lever to spray shampoo onto the carpet. Adjust the knob on the foam-generator to control the foam.， Use overlapping strokes to ensure all surfaces are covered. When each section is completed, vacuum it with the wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Use a damp cloth to wipe the wooden skirting and bottom part of furniture. Place blower facing the area to dry.	Why do I need to vacuum the area before? Why do I have to keep this system? What do I have to do to spray shampoo? What strokes do I have to use? What do I have to do when a section is complete? Why do I need to use a damp cloth? Where do I get a blower?
Precaution	Ensure tank does not run dry.  Ensure the correct dilution rate. Too much water will result in over-wetting of the carpet. Too much foam shampoo will cause the carpet to look dull.	What happens if the tank runs dry? Why is the dilution rate important?
Finish cleaning	When the job is complete, empty the shampoo tank, clean and dry. Clean all tools and equipment and dry before storing away. STOP USING THE MACHINE IF ANY SMELL OR BURN ACCURES!	Why do I need to empty the tank? Why do I need to clean tools before storing?
Storage	Return chemical containers to the store and place neatly on shelf.	Where do I need to store the chemicals?
Report defects	To report immediately of any maintenance problem is found while cleaning.	Why do I have to report immediately?
