HOW TO VACUUM

Guest Expectation: I expect the hotel to be regularly vacuumed. I recognize a dirty hotel and the image of the hotel suffers when this is the case.



Why is this task important for you and our guests?

Preparation


  • Make sure the machine is working and the accessories are ready, i.e. hose, nozzle, flat nozzle and round brush as well as scissor.

  • Put “Work in progress sign” in place.

  1. Why do I need to have cleaning material available?

 Cleaning 

  • Pick up pieces of paper, trash or other items, i.e. paper clips, etc. from the floor.

  • Check for stains or loose threads, remove stain using “Spot clean” SOP.

  • If there are loose threads, cut them off with scissors.

  • Plug in and switch on upright vacuum cleaner.

  • Vacuum the floor carpet, starting from the inner corner of the area using, overlapping strokes. Pull the vacuum cleaner backwards and push forward again to start another section.

  • Pay attention to areas under the sofa and table.

  • Vacuum the floor skirting and edges using the crevice head and round brush.

Finish cleaning

  • When job is complete, empty the dust bag, wipe the cord and wind it around the cord clip neatly.

Storage

  • Return vacuum cleaner to the store and place neatly on shelf
