POLICY
A newly appointed employee to a permanent position must satisfactorily complete a period of probation in accordance with the employment contract from the date of hire, before his appointment is confirmed.

The Hotel only can give probation to the same employee one time.
Probation provides the opportunity to determine whether an appropriate match has been made between a new staff member, the position and the work environment, and whether the staff member is able to perform effectively in the duties of the position
A priority is to attract, retain and develop excellent staff as the achievement of the hotel’s vision depends on the performance and contribution of all staff.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to affirm the Hotel’s commitment to probation as a means of ensuring new staff settle in their positions and become productive and engaged staff members from the commencement of their employment with the company.
PROCEDURE
Human Resources will activate the Appraisal Form to the Head of Department/Division Head before the expire of the probationary period. This is to be completed and returned to Human Resources Department by the 10th week of commencement of employment
It is the responsibility of the Human Resources Department to ensure that this is returned on the 10th week. An employee’s status will not be adjusted unless the Appraisal Form is returned to Human Resources
Should any deadlines be missed or should the appropriate form not be returned to the Human Resources Division on a timely basis ( by the 10th week) it will be assumed that the employee has not successfully completed the probationary period and employment will be terminated
Copy of Appraisal Form and letter will be kept in the Employees’ Personal File
A probation confirmation letter will be issued to all successful employees accordingly & one copy shall be put in their own personnel file for record.
All probation confirmation letters for employees will be signed by General Manager to show appreciation from the Hotel Management.
