WASHING LAUNDRY

Guest Expectation : I expect laundry items to be washed with care. I expect laundry staff to know what to wash by machine and what items to wash by hand.  I expect hand washing handled with extra care to avoid shrinkage and color loss.

STEPS	HOW/ STANDARDS	TRAINING QUESTIONS
Collection	Pick up soiled laundry from inspection area, where soiled laundry has been pre-sorted.	Why is this check so important? Where can I get the soiled linen from?
Sorting	Sort the soiled laundry piece by piece.  Select items to be dry-cleaned and make sure that each garment cannot be wrongly washed.	How shall I sort the pieces? Why is important to sort the garment properly?
Check pockets	Check pockets properly to prevent any objects remaining in the pocket that could damage the garment when it is in the machine.	What can happen if I do not check the pockets?
Check color	Check color, looking for color loss or dye stain.  If found, send it back for inspections then carry out service according to “Damage” SOP.  Carefully check color to sort them into dark, medium colored and white, for washing, to prevent any color loss and dye stain.	How do I have to handle damaged Laundry?
Check Fabric	Carefully check the fabric of each garment. to select silk, wool, leather, rayon, viscose or 100% polyester, cotton.   Separate them into machine-wash or hand wash.	1. Why do I need to check the fabric?
